Becoming BFFs Meeting Tiana in Disney World—Will You Sign My Fireflies Honoring Ray, Princess Tiana?
We have asked Disney characters to sign many things for us over the years. From Mickey signing an actual mousetrap to Donald Duck signing a pair of underwear, our requests tend to be a little out there and surprising for most. So, imagine our surprise when a Disney Princess asked us to sign something for her!
It was unexpected but incredibly sweet when Princess Tiana asked us to sign friendship fireflies in this, our twenty-second installment of our exclusive series, “Will You Sign My…?” featuring our most memorable interactions obtaining autographs from Disney characters. Stay tuned for more fun meet and greets and check out the rest of the series on our channel!

    🎷🪕🎺🎹💃 My Disney dream is Merida, Elena, and Tiana all living in the same country, close enough to invite each other. My musical dreams of these three Disney Princesses is like they help me put my early history and current history together in my list of traditions, because they all fit parts of hidden accuracy of my culture's changes

    I wouldn't mind which instrument of your culture any of you who do scenes of Merida performed. I can imagine Merida, Elena and Tiana doing a Jazz, Pop, Soft Rock, seasonal music, or even instrumental fantasy music altogether at a celebration.

    Ironically, #KiteFails is still one of Disney’s best, most well-received new projects in years! It soared above Stargate and the tacos, it was much more pleasing to look at than a disturbingly feminine planter, and it was somehow even tastier than Walt’s favorite chili (iykyk). We miss you, Kite Tails…please, crash land into our lives again! Until then, happy 30th anniversary to Disney’s “The Lion King”! How time flies…and crash lands like the kites sometimes. We’re concerned and conflicted about Disney’s new era, but we’ll try and embrace the “Hakuna Matata” spirit for today.

    It’s the circle The circle of…banana?! Definitely! They say there is more to see than can ever be seen and more to do than can ever be done, and that rings true in life and in Walt Disney World! Vacation time is precious and park days fill up quickly making it critical to prioritize, breathe, and enjoy all the little moments. We highly recommend prioritizing taking in the Festival of the Lion King at the Harambe Theater on your next trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Timon and Rafiki are big parts of the show, and they’re joined by the whole crew. The festival features incredible acrobatics, beautiful dance performances, larger-than-life characters, and all your favorite music from Disney’s “The Lion King”, but the squash banana is not included.

    We’re fairly confident Star-Lord thinks “True Survivor” and “Looking for Freedom” are bangers, but it’s probably a good thing they didn’t make the setlist for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind! No offense to Gloria Estefan, but “Conga” is our least favorite of the regular tracks, and Star-Lord’s idea for a replacement is a pretty good one. Disney, are you listening? Can we get an update…maybe? Do you have a favorite track that brings you back…wards (literally)?

    Eleven years ago today, on the eleventh day in May, Merida was officially crowned the eleventh Disney Princess. It was a momentous occasion for everyone’s favorite bold and spirited Scottish lass, but there was some controversy over her unveiling at the time. Without Googling, do you remember it? We’re curious, what is your take on it now? Debate aside, we love meeting Merida in Disney World, and we hit the bullseye with her in this throwback meet and greet in the Fairytale Garden of the Magic Kingdom. We hope you enjoy her story in honor of National Archery Day, and always be sure to practice safe shooting-especially during allergy season!

    Regardless of his song choice, we’ll let the Wookiee sing! We sense that Chewie loves the rich, soft timbre of the horns in classic John Williams scores, but you won’t find that little detail on Wookieepedia! What’s your favorite shower song to belt out with a full-throated, “RAWRGWAWGGR“ in celebration of May the 4th?

    We had the perfect real-world experiment this week to prove this point when the new DVC Cabins at Fort Wilderness opened for bookings with points in the seven-month window. On Monday night, there was full availability. Then, once all DVC members were able to book with points on Tuesday, April 23rd, the answer screamed from the availability calendar! Sure, members pounced at the opportunity to be among the first guests to stay at the new accommodations in July, and the weekends in October and November up through the seven-month booking window were quite popular. But, by the end of the first full day of reservations, only one month was near white-out bookings-September. So, is September the best time to visit Fort Wilderness? Heck no! Think heat, humidity, and hurricane season, but, at 15 points a weekday night for a one bedroom, it offers the cheapest nightly point rates of the whole year! Thus, our fellow point pinchers booked it up, and we say giddy-up!

    Had a conversation that tour groups were being escorted by the tour guide who had das was one of the major reasons. Also the abuse of entitled people towards cast members whether they had or did not have the need das and feeling that who are they to judge them. Well folks keeping pushing and abusing you lose it. My kids teacher always you get what you get and you dont get upset.

      When passing out different colored pencils to a group of six-year-olds, sure, but we couldn’t imagine saying that to (let alone thinking it about) a kid with cancer. Or saying it to an adult who experienced severe burns, is newly blind, and has extreme light sensitivity…or a veteran with a prosthetic leg and chronic pain…or someone with severe Crohn’s disease…or anyone with any number of real disabilities that are incredibly hard to manage and deal with on a day-to-day basis. The world is sorely lacking compassion and understanding for those less fortunate than the majority. Making the magic inaccessible for many because of the bad acts of some is not the answer. There are ways to curtail abuse and still provide accommodations; again, just look at Universal.

    This is far from the truth. Make a Wish Kids will still continue to receive plenty of support and will continue to receive their Star ⭐️ skip the line passes. That is a completely different system. DAS is getting an overhaul because over 50% of the people walking through the LL are DAS holders and 20% always have to be turned away because they had a reservation for a family member that’s not going. They are not feeling well, they needed to use the bathroom and are gonna catch up, they don’t feel comfortable going through the line does not cut it for a family member of the guest. And family’s with DAS feel entitled to it whether their DAS holder is going or not. I’ve had over 15 occurrences of people screaming in my face about it and Security has to be called on a few of those occurrences. Point is, the lines are built to accommodate guest in wheelchairs and guests with other things going on. If they are not ADA compliant, Disney is providing other ways to make it ADA Compliant WITHOUT DAS already. Disney is not doing anything in this that isn’t ADA complaint. If you have stood behind a LL podium you would understand. They are getting rid of a system that “your mom or sister could have tried to take advantage of”. So one person looses it everyone looses it.

    • @SeekingTheMagical
      @SeekingTheMagical 4 месяца назад

      As we said in the caption and comment, Make-A-Wish kids receive VIP treatment (as they should) that is over and above what DAS currently provides. However, many families going through the same or similar things but not on a Wish trip will no longer even have access to DAS. That makes the magic far less accessible and places an undue financial burden on individuals and families that are already going through it. Also, the DAS holder must use the pass for their guests to be granted access--it is part of the policy. We are very sorry that people have screamed at you; that is awful and unacceptable. Sadly, we fear this new change in policy is only going to put Cast Members on the front lines of dealing with more upset guests.

    • @kpl-CA
      @kpl-CA 2 месяца назад

      There has not been "front of the line" access for Wish families - at Disney - for the last 12 years. How do we know? We are MAW Alumni, TWICE. And we are Wish Granters. NOBODY gets "front of the line" access for a Wish, and spreading dishonest claims like that reveals an AGENDA. Wish families go through the LL line, with an electronic "pass" (not even a special badge any more, so no random "pixie dust" either). If the LL line is backed up for one or two hours, you wait. Period. For hours, in the sun. No CMs will assist if there's a bathroom need, or even if someone faints, overheats, or has a heart attack in line. That's the problem, DISNEY has failed to properly plan for capacity - their greed has taken over. Disney thinks Wish families won't notice Disney neglecting & demolishing shabby private rest areas for Wish families to convert them into "elite" lounges, instead. Money talks, NOT EMPATHY. Wish Kids *ARE* already being impacted by this deliberate discrimination. HUNDREDS of Wish families are talking about this horrifying change in our closed communities, and many are going to refuse or change the cookie-cutter Disney "Wish" packages they were forced to accept (Disney Wishes are never unique, special or tailored to the Wish Child, they are "You get ___, take it or leave it, kid, that's all we do"). Most families are switching to Universal, Dollywood or other destinations. Universal does a MUCH, MUCH, MUCH better job over Disney. And their new park will be SO MUCH BETTER. Discrimination IS WHAT IS HAPPENING, and yes, Disney and CMs ARE THE BAD GUYS in this, regardless if that hurts feelings. Arrogant CMs who think they can "see" all disabilities, that THEY are somehow "experts" in disabilities with zero education or experience, and who presume to judge, lecture or throw bigotry at disabled people are proving what THEY are. Disney's excuse "disabilities are rare" is a lie, (disabilities impact 10-20% of the population, depending on definition). Disney just didn't plan for capacity. Disney's park design SUCKS. Disney and CMs *ARE* spewing their viciousness and cruelty on Wish families and severely disabled kids and adults. Right now. Repeatedly. Great job, "heroes", you are ruining hundreds of Wishes. Do you brag about that? Abuse and discrimination are vicious, revealing and illegal, as is the disclaimer that all DAS requesters are COERCED into agreeing with, to protect Disney from lawsuits. Disney demands people SURRENDER THEIR RIGHTS to sue if they are harmed, all to be given inadequate, poor disability "accommodations" that do not work. That is deeply unethical and illegal. Rights DO NOT HAVE TO BE EARNED.

    • @kpl-CA
      @kpl-CA 2 месяца назад

      Also, there is an undeniable stench of favouritism for only ONE GROUP, who do NOT represent the most severely disabled people. The current gossip is a Disney exec has a child on the Spectrum, is wallowing in self-pity, and is one of those notorious "Autism Moms" who INSISTS her child's Autism is a constant burden and "worse" than parenting a severely disabled, dying child. So, they ERASE EVERYONE ELSE to pretend only they matter. Or only they have needs. It is STILL discrimination.

  • @SeekingTheMagical
    @SeekingTheMagical 5 месяцев назад

    That’s not to say Make-A-Wish children and families will stop receiving the VIP treatment (as they should-please Disney, sprinkle all the magic on them); however, it does mean that individuals and families going through the very same or similar struggles but not on a Wish trip will have no access to services. That is appalling. The new Disability Access Service (DAS) policies clearly discriminate against large populations of disabled individuals and place an undue financial burden on their access to the parks. If system abuse was the problem, Disney should address that. Punishing those that need inclusive access because of the bad acts of others is not the solution.

    We have an outro for our long-form videos, but Darkwing Duck has an intro! Darkwing Duck’s introduction is a super memorable one-in part because it was oft repeated but mostly because it was always a bit of a surprise. The first line was typically, “I am the terror that flaps in the night!” That was followed up by a more inexplicable one and finished with, “I am Darkwing Duck!” The surprise of the second line was the best part in our opinion, and “I am the batteries that are not included” topped the charts for us! How about for you? What was your favorite Darkwing Duck intro? The first episode of Darkwing Duck debuted on September 6, 1991; however, a sneak peak of the show aired on April 6, 1991. We guess that means today is technically Darkwing’s 33rd birthday. So happy birthday to everyone’s favorite nighttime terror (ha)!

    Disney’s previous baby elephants joined the herd and were visible to guests riding Kilimanjaro Safaris much sooner than Corra! In 2011, Jabali made his debut at 2 weeks old, and in early 2017, Stella debuted at 3 weeks old. Corra was significantly delayed because she was not approved to go out on the African savanna until she was able to nurse her mom, Nadirah, unassisted. Her mom’s long legs prevented Corra from reaching her to nurse standing on the ground as baby elephants usually do shortly after birth. Thankfully, the awesome elephant care team at Disney’s Animal Kingdom anticipated this challenge while Corra was still in the womb, and they built ramps and platforms for Corra to stand on to be able to reach. While Nadirah was still pregnant, they worked with her to regularly stand by the platforms so she would be well accustomed to it when her baby arrived, and it worked! Corra struggled, and she even tried nursing her grandma and aunts since they were much easier for her to reach. She soon caught on though, and was able to latch with her mom, nurse, and grow big and strong! We’re so happy the care team was able to use their imaginations to problem solve a critical issue for such an amazing family, and we’re super excited to see Corra able to nurse on her own now! Are you heading to Kilimanjaro Safaris to say hello immediately?

    Posting this to remind ourselves as much as you. It is so important to slow down and take a break-especially when you are on break! Amidst the crowds and the craziness of Disney Parks over spring break, take time and get away. Spend an afternoon at the pool, cherish the simple moments watching a movie cuddling in bed at night, grant yourself the freedom to sleep in and not rope drop…whatever you choose is up to you. Just remember to actually vacate on your vacation; you will be glad you did. What is your favorite way to take a break on a Disney Trip?

Prior to our original encounter with Mickey and a mousetrap, we never met characters on our Disney trips. While Seeking the Magical still wasn't a wish on a dream at this point in our lives, the unique, magical memory we shared with Mickey in 2012, and this follow-up in 2015, planted the seeds for our efforts to motivate and inspire others to feel comfortable interacting with their favorite Disney characters!
